Anyways, I will be posting more in the future about Second Life as well, including the new viral marketing strategies being used in Second Life.
I want to point out this week the simplicity of utilizing viral marketing methods within the Second Life world. Since it is a completely digital world, it makes things easy to automate and allows you to run a business with a simple set & forget strategy. Build a store front full of products, and let it run itself as shoppers come and buy your products, filling your bank account while you sleep.
Some of the most successful Second Life marketers are utilizing viral marketing tactics. One simple way to do this, is by creating an affiliate vendor. This is essentially a 3d board or box that displays your products for purchase, and it has an affiliate program added. Any land owner, or store owner who would like to sell your products, can simply get your affiliate vendor stall and put it on their land. When people come by and make a purchase from that affiliate vendor, they receive a commission on the sale, and the rest of the money goes to you.
This works very much like a regular affiliate program, only difference is that it's in a 3d environment. You could even go so far as to create a whole 3d store to offer affiliates to use for generating sales. What appears to be best, is offering a few different sizes of affiliate vendor stalls in different sizes. A vendor stall that is made of a very low number of prims (3d blocks) would be most appealing for people that don't have as much land, and for malls which only allot a very small number of prims available. Offering a more elaborate 3d storefront might also appeal to a user that owns a lot of land and can easily spend their prim allowance on something more elaborate that will attract more customers.
I hope that gives you an idea of how to get started. If you have any questions, please post a comment or send me an email. Also, if you want to be my friend within the Second Life world, do a search for Jambhala Richez (That's my Second Life name), and I'd be delighted to meet you. I can also give you a free Affiliate script, but you'll have to find me in Second Life first. :)
Peace and Prosperity,
Jambhala Rinpo
